The Truth…
Truth
Pilate said to Jesus, “What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again” Jhn 18:38 Pilate the cynic! We know this was a cynical statement, and not a sincere question, because he walked away.
Are you a cynic? Do you say the same thing, “What is truth?” Do you walk away?
The concept of Truth, Absolute Truth, is huge; the fact is, there is absolute Truth.
What does the Bible say? That is what counts.
Regarding Jesus, the Bible says: “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, the glory as the only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.” Jhn 1:14
So if Jesus was full of truth, what he said, all that he said is true; he never lied, he would not lie, he could not lie; he was full of truth, there was no room for lie.
Regarding the Holy Spirit, three times Jesus calls him the Spirit of Truth.
1) “The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, for it does not see Him, neither does it know Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you, and will be in you.” Jhn14:17
2) “But when the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness of Me.” Jhn 15:26
3) “But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth.” Jhn 16:13
Since he is the Spirit of Truth, he too will never lie, and since he is the one who inspired men when they wrote the Bible, there is not one untrue word in the Bible; the Holy Spirit leads into the Truth, not into the Lie.
Regarding the Bible, Jesus said, “Sanctify them by your truth. Your word is truth.” Jhn 17:17
Not a truth, but the Truth; the only truth. There is Truth; Absolute Truth; THE TRUTH. Not relative truths, personal truths; true for me, but not true for me.
And if there is the Truth, there is the Lie. The devil departed from the Truth. That tells us all roads do not lead to God; some roads lead away from God, toward the devil, toward the Lie.
“You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” Jhn 8:44
Jesus said that to the religious leaders of his day. The devil leads people away from Truth, to the Lie; that is how he murders people: he murders with lies. He leads people into error, so they will die eternally with him in hell.
People err when they are ignorant of the Scriptures; the Bible. Since the Bible is Truth, ignorance of them is Error. Jesus answered them, “Do you not err, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God?” Mrk 12:24
There is only one true God, and he has given us one true book, the Bible, and there is only one way back to God, and that is by Jesus Christ,
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jhn 14:6
He claimed to be the exclusive way, the one and only way back to God; and since he is full of truth, that must be a true statement. Any religion or person who says there are many truths, and many ways to God, is lying! The Bible is clear, there is one Truth and one Way.
Jesus is the theme of the Bible; he is the Truth.
Jesus said, “You search the Scriptures, because you think in them you have eternal life. These are they who bear witness of Me.” Jhn 5:39
