My name is Ray Gibello. I was born and raised in a typical Italian-American Catholic family.  I never owned a Bible until a high school friend gave me one at the beginning of my freshman year of college.   I tried to read a chapter of the gospels each night; it took me an entire year to read all four gospels.

The first week of my sophomore year, I was invited to a retreat with the Christian group on campus. During a break, I was out walking in the woods and felt compelled to go back to the lodge and read my Bible.  I was alone, and because my book mark was at Matthew 10, I started reading there.  When I got to v 16-18,  “Behold I send you forth...........”, the Lord Jesus spoke to me.  I heard no audible noise, but His voice was clear, with power, and imparted life and light to me.  I instantly knew I had met Jesus Christ, and that He had changed me.  He saved me on September 13, 1975 at 4:50 p.m.

As a result of being converted under these circumstances, I have a clear and strong view of the power of the Bible, and of the Holy Spirit's sovereign work to give spiritual life to dead sinners.

I have been teaching and preaching in our home churches, in various other churches, and on the mission field since the early 1980s.

As a career missionary, the Lord has used me to start churches among a post-stone age tribal group in Papua New Guinea.  I preach 7 times a week. My wife and I have translated the entire New Testament and over 1/4 of the Old Testament into the tribal language of the people among whom we work. I believe the Lord has given me a good understanding of the Bible.

The purpose of this blog is to comment on Bible verses and topics in a simple and straight forward way.  I completely trust the Holy Spirit to teach you; I hope He uses me to be part of that.  I am not "The Answer Man."  Answers are in the Bible, found as the Holy Spirit teaches; so to those of you seeking to know the Truth, READ THE BIBLE! Humble yourself and pray, asking the Lord Jesus to teach you.

Because many words can cover up the Truth and become counter-productive, I will endeavor to write in a crisp, clear, and straightforward manner.

I hold to the historic protestant Reformation understanding of the Bible.  I stand in line with the 1st Century Christians… with Augustine, Athanasius, Wickliffe, Hus, Luther, the Reformers, the Puritans, and those who have followed them, including my like-minded brothers and sisters of the present day.
