The Book of Revelation #8 The Judge on the White Throne

The Book of Revelation #8 - The Judge on the White Throne

“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it. From His face the earth and the heavens fled away, and no place was found for them.” Rev 20:11

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. Before Him will be gathered all nations,” Mat 25:31-32

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ,” 2Co 5:10

It will be a dreadful day when we appear before Jesus Christ; he sitting on his Throne, a White Throne, to judge all people who have ever lived, the books being opened, and the deeds of our lives reviewed and judged.

We will all stand there, and we will all have our lives reviewed.

Firstly, Jesus Christ is the Judge.

“For He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has appointed, having given assurance of this to all men by raising Him from the dead.”

Act 17:31

Jesus Christ, is the judge and his life is the standard. His perfect life will be the yardstick by which we will all be judged: where Adam failed, Jesus succeeded; Jesus obeyed, why didn’t we?

Secondly, the judgment will be individual, each of us receiving according to the deeds done in the flesh, and it will be public.

“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.” Rev 20:12-13

Everything will be brought into the light. Even our idle words, even our secret thoughts! There is not one of us who really understands the detailed nature of this judgment.

And we will be standing, for we are in the presence of one far greater than we.

And we will ALL be there, on that same level surface, before the same judge; the great ones of history, the no-names; the same judge and the same standard for all of us.

Thirdly, the books, notice plural, are opened, in which are recorded our thoughts, words, and actions. How these are recorded is not relevant; the fact is, and all that matters, is that they are being recorded, right now, today.

Nothing will be secret, and you will have no excuses; you will acknowledge ever deed as true, saying, “Yes that is true, I did that, I said that, I thought that.” For remember, the judge will not be dressed in the dirty robes of a Galilean carpenter, he will be the risen Jesus of Rev 1, whose eyes are fire, telling us he sees and knows all.

And how many sins are we talking about? As I write this, in 2024, I am 67. At 1 sinful thought a day + 1 sinful word a day + 1 sinful action a day, from say 5 years of age on (I do not believe in an age of accountably, but just as a starting point) that is 62 years x 365 days = 22630 sinful thoughts + 22630 sinful words + 22630 sinful actions =

TOTAL 67890; and I assure you, as each of you know all too well, there are many more.

The point is, we send people to jail for 1 criminal act; for 67890 criminal acts, for sin is crime against God who is the Creator and Owner and Sustainer and Governor of the Universe, what will he do; what do we deserve?

Fourthly, the day has been appointed (Act 17:31); it is an appointment you will not fail to keep. When that day, hour, minute, second arrives, which God has already ordained, the heavens will flee away, and all the dead will be raised and assembled before the face of Jesus Christ; it has been fixed by God, it will not change, it will happen; it is on his calendar.

If you are following a non-Christian religion, you will see that you were wrong. Jesus Christ is God. Hinduism is wrong, Islam is wrong, Buddhism is wrong, traditional religions of all people are wrong.

If you are following a Jesus of your own making, a Jesus not of the bible: Jehovah’s Witness, Mormon, Roman Catholic, Seventh Day Adventist; the Jesus of those systems are idols (1Jn 5:20), you will see on that day that you followed a lie, you were wrong.

The devil killed Adam and Eve with lying words, and he is killing you in just the same way, and as Mat 25 says, on that day, you will go to be with the devil, in the lake of fire, to live/exist with him forever. These verses are clear. You will not be annihilated; you will exist forever, suffering the pain of eternal fire, separated from God.

There is a Court Room, and the Judge seated who will review all of the FACTS, and your own conscious will convict you, “Yes, I deserve to go to jail (hell).” These things are real, this will happen.

And Christian, we too will stand there, and the thoughts and words and deeds of our lives will be reviewed. That is why Paul warns us, “we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive his recompense in the body, according to what he has done, whether it was good or bad.” 2Co 5:10

We too will have our lives examined, in that sense we will be judged, and even though we deserve it, we will not be sent to hell; we have been saved from that. We are judged, we will acknowledge our sins, which we did against the love of God our Father, and light of the Holy Spirit within, and knowledge on the Scriptures which we read, but … we go to heaven; why?

Our names are written in the other book, the one book, “The Lamb’s Book of Life.”

“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Rev 20:15

We were chosen from before the foundation of the world, before we did good or bad (Rom 9), that the purposes of God according to election might stand.

We inherit the kingdom, Paradise, prepared for us from before the foundation of the world.

“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:” Mat 25:34

Christian marvel at grace; we know we are no better than others; we deserve the same fate.

Non-Christian, the door is still open, Jesus Christ is still calling out to you “Come,” he is still standing at the door of your heart knocking and saying, “Open, let me in”.

Do not listen to the devil, he wants you to be with him in hell, so he is telling you to ignore this Jesus Christ stuff, but he is a liar and a murdered (Jhn 8:44), and just like he murdered Adam and Eve with a lie, he is seeking to murder you too.

You are being warned – re-think your position; the gamble is huge! At least get a bible and start reading, and pray as you read, “God, Jesus, if you are there, talk to me,” it really can be that simple.
