Men Are Worth More Than Animals
Men are worth more than animals.
In our day we hear people cry “Save the whales! Save the trees”, and then we watch them kill babies.
We have pet cemeteries, and pet health insurance, and numerous groups out to protect animals. Animals have no souls, yet we have elevated them to the status of human beings.
I am absolutely not condoning animal cruelty, I just want to point out that animals are not people. Again, animals have no soul, they do not live forever; people have souls, they live forever, and so people are worth more than animals.
The natural, logical consequence of evolutionary thought is that since humans are just animals who are higher up the evolutionary ladder; animals and people are basically the same, and therefore should have the same rights etc. We call the premiere animal protection group “The Humane Society”; meaning we should treat animals like we treat humans. Treating them kindly, as God’s creation is one thing; raising them up to the level of people, is another. That thinking is contrary to the bible!
Jesus said, “You are more valuable than many sparrows.” Mat 10:31; Luk 12:7
Jesus said, “How much better is a man than a sheep.” Mat 12:12
These things were said by Jesus, the maker of the sparrow and the sheep! He says people are more valuable than many sparrows, and better than a sheep!
In fact, killing and eating animals is not sin! God gave animals to us for food! Domesticated animals were not wild animals that evolved into domesticated animals; they were created as domesticated animals to be husbanded by people, than killed, and eaten.
“Then God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. Every beast of the earth and every bird of the sky and all that moves on the earth and all the fish of the sea will fear you and be terrified of you. They are given into your hand. Every moving thing that lives will be food for you. I give you everything, just as I [previously] gave you the green plant.” Gen 9:1-3
So why do people think contrary to what God ordained? Rom 1 speaks to the root issue.
“Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him or give thanks to Him as God, but became futile in their imaginations, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools. They changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, birds, four-footed beasts, and creeping things.” Rom1:21-23
In the ancient world, people made statues of birds and animals, and worshipped them; today people do basically the same thing: they ignore the Creator, and worship the creature, i.e. the animals! They have elevated animals beyond what God intended; that is rebellion.
“They turned the truth of God into a lie and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.” Rom 1:25
So why are people better than, and of more value than animals? It is because only we are made in the image of God! Only we were made with God’s own hands! Everything else he spoke into being; us he formed with his own hands, and then breathed into us, mouth to nose, the breath of life, en-living us, imparting to us his own life force!
First hear God’s inter-Trinitarian conversation: “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness,” Gen 1:26
Then the actual making of the first man, whose name was Adam.
“Then the LORD God formed man from /with the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being.” Gen 2:7
I would say this is the pre-incarnate Jesus Christ, making Adam the first human being.
The pre-incarnate Jesus, prior to taking on flesh, yet having hands and mouth, and as the source of life, imparts life to Adam.
This is why we, this is why you, are significantly different from, worth more than, and are better than the animals!
